Additionally, there are flexible options that can be adjusted to your requirements:

Option 1: Participation in storage revenue: You have the opportunity to financially participate in the storage revenue. This means that you benefit from the income generated by Scale Energy through the sale of energy or other services of the storage.

Option 2: Self-consumption optimization of PV system: If you have a PV system (or are planning to install one), the battery storage can be configured to optimize self-consumption. This means that you can use more of the self-generated electricity instead of feeding it into the grid, further reducing your electricity costs.

Option 3: Reduction of variable grid costs through peak shaving: The battery storage can be used to reduce peak loads, resulting in lower variable grid costs. This means that the storage kicks in when electricity consumption is high and draws energy from the grid when prices are low. This allows you to lower your overall costs and reduce the load on the network at the same time.

How does the battery get to my facility and who installs it?

Scale Energy, in collaboration with a network of trusted partners, handles the entire process from transport to installation and commissioning of the battery. The battery is transported from the production site to the selected location and installed on-site by our local EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) partner, in conjunction with the manufacturer, to ensure it is properly set up and operational.

Is it permitted to simply connect a battery to the grid?

Connecting a battery to the power grid typically requires approval from the grid operator and must comply with applicable regulations and guidelines. Scale Energy manages the entire process, including application submission and coordination with the grid operator. Our primary focus is on ensuring that all requirements and standards are met. Additionally, it's important to note that grid operators generally have an interest in battery storage systems, as they help reduce local grid loads and improve grid stability.

Is an extra building permit required for the battery installation?

The requirements for obtaining approval for battery storage can vary depending on its size. It may only require a notification to the local building authority, or an additional building permit may be necessary. The specific requirements vary depending on the location and local regulations. Scale Energy takes care of this process and handles the procurement of all necessary permits and procedures. Our experts make sure that all legal requirements are met and that the installation proceeds smoothly. Of course, we always follow local battery fire safety regulations during installation.

Who takes care of maintenance of the battery?

The maintenance of the battery is handled by our experienced team and partners. Together, we monitor the batteries around the clock and conduct regular inspections and maintenance to ensure that the battery systems operate optimally and maintain high performance. Our experts are ready to detect and address any potential issues early on, ensuring that your business can continuously benefit from the battery.

What are the costs for my company?

There are no costs for your company at all, as Scale Energy covers all expenses related to the battery storage, including acquisition, transportation, maintenance, repairs, and any other associated costs.

Why does Scale Energy use lithium-ion batteries?

Scale Energy utilizes lithium-ion batteries due to their proven performance, reliability, and efficiency. These batteries offer high energy density, long lifespan, and fast charging capability, making them ideal for use in energy storage solutions. With less than 10% losses between power purchase and feeding into the grid, lithium-ion batteries are a cost-effective solution for energy supply. Moreover, lithium-ion batteries are widely available on the market and have established themselves as one of the leading technologies for storing renewable energy.

Do additional grid fees arise for my company?

Any additional grid fees that may arise due to a higher annual maximum load will be covered by Scale Energy. Having our own metering point ensures that these costs are not transferred to our site partners but are absorbed by us. The implementation of this clear separation is taken into account within the framework of the metering concept.

Who is the operator of the facility?

The operator of the facility, according to the operator criteria of the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG), is Scale Energy or a trading partner authorized for the energy exchange as well as for balancing energy markets.

Is it possible to integrate surpluses from non-renewable electricity generation (eg. gas turbines and CHP plants) into the concept?

Yes, this is also possible. Our battery storage solutions are flexible and can store and discharge energy regardless of its source. By integrating various energy sources, we can further optimize the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of your energy operation.
