Scale Energy at ZDF WISO (19.05.2025) - „Deutschland unter Strom“

In the May 19, 2025 episode of WISO, ZDF host Marcus Niehaves takes a deep dive into Germany’s energy transition: from solar and wind power generation to large-scale power plants and long-distance transmission lines. One of the key topics? Energy storage.
Decentralized battery storage systems are playing an increasingly vital role. In a conversation with Marcus Niehaves, Scale Energy founders Christoph Koessler, Nikolas Fendel, and Elias Aruna explain why batteries are especially effective when deployed decentrally—directly at sites where large volumes of energy are consumed or generated.
Faster implementation through existing infrastructure
Traditional grid expansion is costly, slow, and often hampered by lengthy approval processes. Scale Energy offers a smarter alternative: utilizing existing grid connections at industrial and commercial sites. This enables storage projects to be implemented much faster and more cost-effectively—while relieving pressure on both distribution and transmission networks. At the same time, site partners benefit from significantly lower energy costs.
Strengthening Europe’s industrial competitiveness
By reducing energy costs for industrial companies and contributing to grid stability, Scale Energy is actively supporting the long-term competitiveness of the European industrial sector—while accelerating the expansion of clean, affordable power generation.
